Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.
Hi, I'm Dr. Alex Agiliga (she/her), a licensed psychologist in Maryland.
I'm a licensed psychologist in Maryland and PSYPACT approved to provide teletherapy in Washington, DC and 40+ states. I provide culturally-responsive therapy in a nonjudgmental and collaborative manner. I'm committed to providing supportive, affirming care in a space where you can bring your whole self. I welcome people of diverse identities to my practice - including people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ability statuses, nationalities, and other salient identities. In addition to individual therapy, I work with groups and organizations as a consultant, and part of a team of mental health providers at a university counseling center.
I have over ten years of education, training, and professional experience. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. My research focused on racism and anti-racism, gender, and sexual identity. I completed my doctoral internship in health service psychology at the University of Delaware Center for Counseling and Student Development. Over the course of my career, I have worked in a variety of settings, including university counseling centers, community mental health centers, inpatient and outpatient treatment centers, and hospitals.
Some of my salient identities include being a Black cisgender woman, second generation of an immigrant family from Trinidad and Nigeria, and part of the LGBTQ+ community. Outside of therapy, consultation, and research, I enjoy reading and audio books, playing recreational volleyball, spending time with friends and family, dancing to good music, and eating delicious food! I like to check out museums and galleries, and I delight in warm weather - whether on a walk, at the beach, or on a hike.
